Donegal Woodland Owners Society Ltd. (DWOSL)

DWOSL, based in Donegal, in the north-west of Ireland, are a wood fuel supply co-operative which supports and promotes sustainable forest management and timber marketing.  DWOSL entered the bioenergy Energy Supply Contract (ESCO) market, and this case study examines the supply chain from its members supplying fuel to the co-operative entering into agreements to supply energy to different buildings.

This is an on-going project which uses wood (logs) to generate bioenergy using gasification boilers. More information on this society can be found at

Údarás na Gaeltachta

Údarás is a regional authority responsible for the economic, social and cultural development of the Gaeltacht areas in Ireland. They installed a 300kW woodchip boiler in 2012 at their head office in Furbo, c. 12 km from Galway city. The feedstock for this boiler is woodchip sourced from local suppliers.
